In 1942 under the U.S. Lend - Lease aid program Mexico acquired a number of M-3 and M-2 Half Tracks (quantity unknown ).  These vehicles were allocated to the 1st Reconnaissance Group.  In 1947 Mexico acquired another quantity of half-tracks and these were allocated to Armored Reconnaissance Regiment working along with the Scout cars.   Available historical photos only show one M-5 Half-Track.

During this period the Half Tracks were painted olive green with white serial numbers.  the Mexican Army also sometimes painted a Mexican eagle (present national flag type) surrounded by stars and down the eagle written words meaning "Ejercito Mexicano". .  These vehicles are still used at the present time with reconnaissance and rifles units.

During the 1980´s the Mexican Army painted these vehicles in olive green and light green camouflage and were issued to the 12th mechanized cavalry regiment and another to the presidential guards units.  During this period because of border problems with Guatemala, Mexico decided to invent units during the military parades by creating emblem of their units and putting them on the vehicles.  This gave the appearance that Mexico had lot more armoured vehicles then in reality.

Between 1989 to 1995 these vehicles were painted in olive green and sand colour camouflage.  These half-tracks were unmodified World War 2 vehicles.   During the next years Mexico painted the Half-Tracks already ultra streamlined in the European camouflage pattern.

Modern Modifications.
Due to economic problems Mexico was unable to purchase modern armoured vehicles so it was decided to upgrade the existing vehicles.  A company appeared Nampco International Company in which they made several modifications to the Mexican vehicles, for more analysis or a better relation this company is specialized in various Israeli armoured vehicles and tanks, so perhaps the company modified the Mexican half tracks like the Israelis ones.

The half-track modifications included: new engine, cooling system, fuel system, Cooling / filters system, 24 volts electrical system, clutch, transmission, forward edge, front wheels, suspension system, new brake and drivers instruments.

The external modifications of the structure included:  replaced the radiator louvres with a solid steel plate, redesigned engine compartment, more armoured plate to protect the oil cooling system and new rear suspension and rubber tracks.  A new machine gun mount was added to fit either the .50 or 7.62mm machine guns.

There were also several minor modifications, repairmen's and substitutions on the minor systems that left this vehicle entirely modified and in operative statues.
