Israeli Sherman Special versions in 1/35 scale.

The Early Sherman ambulance was a modification of the standard Sherman in IDF service. The turret was removed and the engine moved to the fighting compartment area. The rear deck was removed and a built up roof added. The diver's compartment remained unchanged.

This conversion was based on 3 photos of an example in Verlinden Production's Israeli M4 Sherman and Derivations.

The turret opening was filled with a round blank of sheet stock. Two M151 fording intakes provided the main section of exhaust, though one of these had to be cut and repositioned to make the correct curve of the exhaust. The kit exhaust tips were heated and bent to shape and attached to these. Spare and scratch built parts constitute the rest of this area.

The rear deck was partly cut down to accept the sheet stock roofing of about 10 pieces of sheet stock cut to shape and size. The rear panel was scribed to represent the doors and numerous small parts added to replicate hinges, doorstops, handles, etc.

The kit was painted Model Master Israeli Sinai Gray and weathered. A white circle was stencilled on the roof. The red Magen David was a symbol from Microsoft word set to approximately 72 point font and printed in red. This was attached with white glue and sealed.

Scale plans of this vehicle are available in the plans section of Mouse House Enterprises portion of this site.
