Models built by John Myszka based on Tamiya 1/35 scale M3A2 half track.
The TCM20 twin 20mm anti aircraft guns were based on the Maxson turret from the Tamiya M16 SPAA. The guns were scartchbuilt and the assortment of boxes came from the AEF Designs TCM 20 conversion kit. The kit was painted in Testors armour sand that gives the vehicle a scale colour and represents a vehicle that has been at war with with resultant faded paint.
This model has also been modelled as a diesel version fitted with the M113A1 diesel engine. The outward identification points include twin exhausts, solid front radiator shield and mudguard humps for the exhaust mufflers (both sides).
The model above was built by Fabio Turchetto, Trieste, Italy. Fabio has gone to a lot more trouble scratchbuilding the rear of the half track as well as adding resin tracks and metal barrels. This TCM 20 represents a version prior to the upgrading to the diesel engine.
This half track is built on the Tamiya M3A2 suitable modified back to a M3A1 version. The SS11 missiles came from the heller AMX13 kit. The roof is partially plated over with two missile storage boxes in each of the rear corners. The green object on the right side of the half track is a retractable line that can connect to the periscope guidance mechanism normally mounted on the dashboard in front of the passenger/gunner. This half track has its fuel stored in the well between the tracks thus raising the floor level. This is evidenced by the small round cover for the fuel cap on the right side of the half track.
Based on the Tamiya M3A2 again, the 90mm armed half track was based on measurements taken of an oroginal vehicle here in Australia, owned by Tim Vibert. The gun was based on the Tomy 6pdr anti tank gun. The barrel was replaced with a slightly thicker barrel and a new muzzle brake added. The internals and drivers compartment of the half track were substanially modified. Scale plans and conversion text available for purchase.
This is an early half track with a 20mm antiaircraft gun mounted in a octagonal turret. Robert has been rsearching this particular vehicle and has gone onto to build it. He has admitted that there are a number oferrors in this first try, namely, the turret shape and the 20mm gun are not quite right. The 20mm used was straight from the Sd Kfz 222 German armoured car, definitely not the one used. The half track should have flat section mudguards and the rounded rear compartment corners of the M5/M9 half track. He is building another more accurate version. Robert altered the Bren gun to the original Czech model with straight magazine and other minor changes.
