IDF Centurions UPDATED
We have had some more images of IDF Centurions sent to us recently.
The original kit is Modelcraft N° 9009 Centurion MK III. Over new plasticard track guards I put Verlinden resin air-filter boxes and photo etched guard supports. I modified the original stowage boxes left and made new ones, put some handles, tools, the tow cables hook and rear lights from the scrap box.
Over the glacis plate I put new U.S. pattern lights, two resin cast spare tracks and periscopes to the driver's hatch. The tow cables are from the kit. I filled and sanded the escape hatch at the rear of the turret and the smoke grenade bracket holes. Using plasticard, plastic rod and metallic mesh I made the rear angled turret basket so characteristic of this tank. I filled it with boxes, nets and personal gear. A resin cast spare wheel and a jerry can holder were placed according to pictures of the tank. A plastic made pentagonal box was added to the left rear turret.
The kit barrel was replaced with the 105 mm. Verlinden two pieces resin gun with a dust cover made with paper. The coaxial machine gun is a piece of 0,8 mm. syringe needle.
The tank was airbrushed with Humbrol 72 and received two more coats adding white. I washed it with a mix of Burnt Sienna oil and matt black. I used Verlinden´s dry transfers and markings form the scrap box.
Model by Mario Martinez, Mexico.

Model by Sampo Mikkola of Finland. The kit was based on the Tamiya Centurion
Mk.3 with the AEF Designs engine deck and KMT 5 anti mine rollers. The Blazer armour
suite and the anti mine roller adaptor plate were both scratchbuilt. Good one.
