Rover Series II - 106mm recoilless rifle / Gun buggy
In 1961 the Army Design Establishment produced a highly modifies Land Rover to carry the M40A1 106mm recoilless rifle. Following trials the combination was approved for service and 68 Series 2 and 2A Land Rovers were modified. Initially they served with the Armoured Corps but later in anti tank platoons of infantry battalions. Several served in South Vietnam as 106mm RR but also as gun buggies for convoy escorts armed with M60 machine guns. They were finally phase out of service in the 1999.
